Why you are furthering your education, and how the Andy Mireles Charitable Foundation has helped you:
Being part of John Jay Science & Engineering Academy is what really pushed me to what I want to be and has lead me to who I am today. I am currently attending Texas A&M University and will be studying to become a Civil Engineer. Once obtaining my Bachelor’s degree I plan to head back home to San Antonio and start my career as a civil engineer where I would work until I gain my Professional Engineers license (PE). From there I wish to be a Construction Manager and with the experience of civil engineering and my professional’s license I would be in high demand. The reason for me wanting to be a civil engineer is with the infrastructure of the United States being over 50 years old the highways and bridges are in need of a new, major, modern overall. This will create new jobs in the civil engineering field allowing for more lucrative opportunities for myself. Receiving the Andy Mireles Charitable Foundation Scholarship is a great honor and it will help to reduce my educational cost while I pursue my engineering degree.
